Grundig Washing Machine Error Codes
Grundig's washing machine range has been manufactured and sold under Arçelik (the same parent group behind Beko and Blomberg) for years, and the diagnostic code system on Grundig washers mirrors Beko's E-number format closely, since many models share the same underlying control boards and sensors.
E01 – Door fault. The washer can't confirm the door is closed and locked. Push the door firmly shut and check the seal for trapped fabric before assuming the lock switch itself has failed.
E02 – Water fill fault. The machine isn't taking in water properly. Check that the supply tap is fully open, the hose isn't kinked, and the inlet filter screen isn't clogged with sediment.
E03 / E04 – Drainage fault. Water isn't draining out of the tub. Clean the pump filter, usually found behind a small access flap at the bottom front of the machine, and check the drain hose route for kinks.
E2 / E3 – Heating faults. As with Beko, E2 generally signals no heat while E3 signals continuous, uncontrolled heat. Both point to the heating element, its sensor, or the relay on the control board, and are best diagnosed by a technician given the safety implications of a heater that won't switch off.
E6 – Motor fault. The drum shakes excessively or the machine stops partway through a cycle. This usually needs professional diagnosis to distinguish a worn motor from a control board fault.
E7 – Water level sensor fault. The machine repeatedly empties on start-up, or won't fill at all. Check the pressure switch and its wiring, though a full sensor replacement is often needed.
E9 – Door lock mechanism fault. Distinct from a simple open-door reading — this flags a fault in the lock hardware itself, which typically means the door lock assembly needs replacing.
E17 – Excess suds. Overdosing on detergent, or using a non-HE formula, has created more foam than the wash cycle can handle. Reduce the dose and run a rinse-only cycle to clear the excess suds before restarting.
Preventing Grundig Error Codes
A handful of routine habits prevent the majority of the codes above from ever appearing. Clean the drain pump filter every two to three months — it's usually accessed through a small hinged panel at the bottom front of the machine — since a partially blocked filter is the leading cause of both E03/E04 drainage faults and the excess-vibration complaints that sometimes accompany them. Use only HE-rated, low-suds detergent and measure it carefully, since Grundig's control boards (shared with Beko) are sensitive to excess foam, which can indirectly trigger both drainage and level-sensor faults. Check the inlet hose and its filter screen once or twice a year for sediment buildup, particularly in areas with hard or mineral-rich water, since this is the most common root cause behind E02. Finally, avoid overloading the drum beyond the machine's rated capacity, since consistent overloading accelerates wear on both the motor (E6) and the door lock mechanism (E9).

Door, fill, and drain faults are approachable DIY fixes; heating and motor faults are worth handing to a professional, particularly given how few Grundig-specific parts stockists exist in most markets.
